These conditions govern access to and use of Chowan County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept all terms below. Do not continue using the service if you disagree with them.

NO FCRA USE. Chowan County Criminal History is privately operated and has no local, state, or federal government affiliation. This site and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or any other purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The service is a North Carolina records reference, not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site that operates independently from government. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files documents for a visitor.

Its purpose is to identify the offices and systems holding Chowan County records, including the Sheriff, county courts, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect visitors to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the service is conditioned on agreement not to:

This restriction is especially important for the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Chapter 14, Article 27A governs registry information and duties, and criminal misuse can be prosecuted. The registry exists for public safety awareness, never vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create a credit report, background check, or other consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant screening, rental review, insurance rating, or credit decisions. You agree not to use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Review a renter or housing applicant
  • Set an insurance rate or assess creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated activity

A person who needs a check for a regulated purpose must use an authorized official process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Chowan County charge, conviction, warrant, or North Carolina expunction rule applies to a particular person. Seek advice from a licensed North Carolina attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is," without a guarantee that:
